Chalkboards… my other love

I am excited to present you with my chalkboard! I was enamored with the idea of turning old frames into chalkboards while I was planning my wedding. A cute and country style method of communicating the menu and drink list (very important items!). This is a chalkboard I created from an old window pane.

First step was sanding! Always the sanding. Once I achieved a smooth surface I applied a layer of blue paint, then a layer of white. I cheated a bit and used a primer, as it is durable and I would achieve good coverage. Once the paint dried I continued with my sanding. I focused my sanding on the corners and edges to give the distressing a realistic look.
